With a UK headline tour, countless festival appearances and front cover spreads in rock music magazines across an international scale, Rise To Remain are rapidly hyping up metal fans from around the world. Bringing their fierce live show to Sheffield’s O2 Academy after a cracking slot at Sonisphere Festival 2011 and various others around the country, it’s pretty safe to say Rise to Remain well and truly smashed it big style!

Heating up the audience before the main event were Scottish based rockers Bleed From Within who went above and beyond any support bands primary roles. Tearing up the stage with their ear splitting performance, front man Scott Kennedy played the half packed venue to his advantage; stage diving, amp clambering, you name it, to induce a full-on, energetic performance.  More than worthy of their own headline tour, Bleed Form Within will no doubt have a few more Steel City supporters added to their collection.

Although a tough act to follow, if Rise To Remain owned the stage, Bleed From Within simply rented if off of them. Bolstering onto the stage with bucket loads of charisma and a voice to match, Austin Dickenson made like the Messiah to induce a legendary performance. Having released their debut album, City of Vultures back in September, the set largely comprised of tracks from this, a nod in the direction to experimental metal verses full on hard-core mayhem. Tracks such as God Can Bleed and We Will Last Forever have a certain eeriness about them, aiding the adrenaline packed vibe of the night. ‘It’s been received excellently, we were all really surprised…you love music you create,’ commented Austin about the release. ‘Because it is our debut album, we went a little bit mental to get it perfect. But it’s a real reflection of what we’re about…we’re all really really into it.’

The climax of the night came with the performance of title track off the album, City of Vultures, a decibel cranking hit combining both powerful lyrics in collaboration with intricate rhythmic patterns. Played towards the end of the hour long set, this resulted in one hell of a stage dive, there enough involving the whole of the witnessing audience. Who said metal was dead?

Lauren: Hey R2R, how are you all doing today?

Joe: "Absolutely Splendid Thankyou!"

L: You've just been headlining a tour around the UK, how has it felt to play to kids who are there just to see you?

J: "It was Crazy! We had no idea what to expect going into the headlining tour as it was our first, and to see real fans with RTR shirts queuing outside the venues was mind blowing. Its a new thing for us so we were totally over the moon."

L: What's the craziest thing that happened on the tour?

J: "Haha it has to be in Nottingham. The last show we did with Bleed From Within and The Safety Fire we decided to play 'Laid To Rest' by Lamb of God. We had Ally and Goonzi from BFW on drums and guitar, Dez from TSF on guitar, Will from RTR on bass which is crazy, and everyone else sharing the vocals/stage diving. It was a great way to end the tour and...

All hell broke loose on stage and off. It was awesome."

L: You've got a tour coming up in Europe next month, where are you most looking forward to playing?

J: "Ahh thats a tough one as we cant wait to go back to Germany, Holland, Belgium, France. But we have never toured Scandinavia or Finland before, so thats going to be a completely new experience for us. We just cant wait to be on the road again, playing shows and visiting all these amazing countries!"

L: Your album, City of Vultures is now available, how does it feel to have an album out when you've previously released successful, digital EP's?

J: "Its a dream come true.

To walk in to any cd store in the country and see your album is an amazing feeling. Ben Tovey actually just sent us a picture of our cd on the shelves in Amsterdam, so we are still getting used to it!"

L: Who have been the best support bands for you while you've been on tour?

J: "The Safety Fire and Bleed From Within. It was just such a friendly vibe on the road with those guys. Everyone helped everyone out, no bullshit just good times. True Bro-down!!"

L: And what have you got coming up in the next 12 months?

J: "We have The Defenders of the Faith at the end of the year, then a lot more touring all of next year as well. Theres plans to go out to America, Europe again and much much more. Cant give anything away at this moment of time but we will keep ya'll posted!"
